Dr. Gerald Harriman is dually board certified in hospice and palliative medicine and family medicine. He graduated from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has combined active medical practice of nearly 40 years. Besides his family practice he worked for Harbor Hospice in Muskegon Michigan as their medical director for over 18 years. He draws on all these years of experience to write his nonfiction two book companion series Embrace the Time. The titles included are Hope in Hospice: Your Guide to Hospice and How it Helps and The Palliative Care Chronicles: Meet Pearl, Dale and Dr Lea. These books are written to help others not just learn facts about hospice and palliative care but to gain a glimpse into the workings of hospice in providing the care for terminally ill patients and for the in-depth details of palliative care for patients with serious illness conditions. A unique feature of both works includes realistic and relatable patient experiences which he incorporates based on his nearly 40 years of prior clinical experiences. Each book has an extensive Appendix packed with relevant information and thorough as if you were in a consultation with Dr Harriman getting the answers you are asking.

Dr. Harriman is a distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, recognized for his professional accomplishments in the field of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He is a Paul Harris Fellow from the Rotary Foundation and an Associate Professor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was recognized as a Teacher of the Year Award recipient for Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Trinity (Mercy) Health Grand Rapids fellowship program.

Dr. Harriman was born and raised in Grand Rapids Michigan and has practiced medicine his entire career in West Michigan. He still lives in West Michigan with his wife, where they raised their two children and now enjoy their five grandchildren in the locations where they live. When not involved with his medical career, including sought after speaking engagements, he spends time with family and friends, enjoys running, and nurturing the lawn and garden. His debut medical suspense novel, The Plan, is currently in the final rewriting phase. He has plans for additional medical suspense thriller books, so stay tuned.
